2. Synthetic Fibers and Solvents: Dehydration cyclization under acidic catalysts yields tetrahydrofuran (THF). THF is the monomer for producing polytetrahydrofuran (PTMEG, used in spandex fibers) and an important organic solvent.
3. Polyurethane Materials: Reaction with diisocyanates (e.g., MDI) produces polyurethane (PU) elastomers, thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), and polyurethane foams, used in footwear, adhesives, sealants, hoses, etc.

Fine Chemicals and Biodegradable Plastics: Dehydrogenation and other reactions can produce γ-butyrolactone (GBL), which is further processed into fine chemicals like N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP) and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP).
